BUSINESS NEWS

  • Three data centers are planned for Northeast Oklahoma as Tulsa County and nearby cities get a boost from a $1 billion investment from Beale Infrastructure and a $9 billion commitment by Google in Muskogee County; rezoning meetings are scheduled in Coweta (Jan. 19) and Sand Springs (Jan. 27).  News On 6

  • JustArts Gallery presents an art show that lets incarcerated artists showcase their work at Tulsa’s Circle Cinema today. The exhibit offers a creative outlet while connecting community members to a unique artistic expression.  FOX 23
  • Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Tulsa will celebrate the 7th anniversary of its country dance hall with Track 5. Fest on Feb. 13 at 9 p.m. featuring Jason Boland and The Stragglers and on Feb. 14 at 9 p.m. with Little Texas, with free admission (for patrons 21 and older).  FOX 23
  • The University of Tulsa has withdrawn its sponsorship for Mayfest as Tulsa seeks a new title sponsor. City officials said the arts festival will likely continue this year with support timed with the Route 66 Centennial surge.  News On 6

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Public Service of Oklahoma proposes a 15% rate increase that would add about $25 to monthly bills by July, pending approval by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission. The utility says the funds will support a $1.2 billion energy expansion (critics question links to new data centers).  2 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • State Rep. Rob Hall filed a bill to help young students learn to read by changing funding, hiring, and how third graders are promoted (mirroring a Senate effort). The measure will be reviewed when the session starts on Feb. 2.  KTUL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lawmakers are working to keep the 988 Mental Health Crisis Hotline running as federal funding will end in June. State Senator Brenda Stanley introduced legislation to provide $5.7 million annually (with $1.1 million offset) to support the service that handles up to 9,000 calls each month.  FOX 23
  • Construction starts today on the US-75 bridge over Polecat Creek near Jenks at 9 a.m., reducing lanes to one in each direction until the project wraps up in November 2026. ODOT advises drivers to plan ahead for delays (the road sees about 63,000 vehicles daily).  2 News
  • Drivers on Highway 75 south near Jenks will face delays starting 9 a.m. Monday as crews cut lanes from 4 to 1 (each direction) between 96th Street and Creek Turnpike while repairing the northbound bridge and resurfacing the southbound bridge; the project is expected to last most of the year.  News On 6
