  • ImpactTulsa has been chosen to receive a grant from the NBA Foundation — funding that will support My Brother’s Keeper Tulsa and boost education and career readiness programs for young boys and men of color in the community.  FOX 23
  • Tulsa residents expecting a baby in the next six months can get support from South Tulsa Community House’s Expectant Families Program. Families should call 918-742-5597 or visit in person with a valid ID, proof of pregnancy, and proof of residence to sign up.  FOX 23
  • Eden Village, a tiny home community in Tulsa, is continuing to support people experiencing homelessness after a recent winter storm passed. The group has organized shelter and meal services (key resources) to help locals in need.  FOX 23

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Tulsa firefighters rescued a homeowner, a family member, and several pets from a house fire near 11th Street and Sheridan; crews quickly attacked the blaze and continued checking for hotspots.  News On 6

  • Temple Israel, one of Oklahoma’s two Reform Jewish congregations, began a new chapter on Feb. 2 that honors its past while planning future growth. The announcement underlines the congregation’s dedication to tradition and progress.  FOX 23

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Dr. Ebony Johnson outlined Tulsa Public Schools plans, noting a job fair is held today from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Education Service Center’s Selman room and a nearly $600M bond proposal for safe learning environments will be on ballots April 7 while enrollment applications surged 14% despite overall student declines.  News On 6
  • Schools and student groups can register for free Cherokee Nation education tours led by experienced guides, available by reservation from February through May. Options include tours that visit historic Capitol Square, the Sequoyah Cabin, and the Saline Courthouse — each offering valuable insights into Cherokee history and culture.  KTUL
  • Organizers of the National Civics Bee announced a one-time extension to the essay submission deadline for middle school students after disruptions caused by a winter storm. The new deadline is Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 11:59 p.m. (Hawaii Standard Time).  KTUL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City crews have been repairing a 12-inch water line break near 45th and Peoria since Sunday, and the northbound lanes remain closed, causing traffic delays. Drivers are advised to use caution and plan alternate routes.  News On 6
  • Tulsa land conservation group Land Legacy says it is owed more in the Sand Springs data center process and urges the city council to postpone the rezoning vote today at 6 p.m. in the Charles Page High School gym to better protect its conservation rights.  2 News
  • Governor Kevin Stitt said he plans to dismantle OSSAA because he opposes the rule that forces 7th-12th grade student-athletes who transfer schools more than once to sit out a year; the nonprofit, which has governed sports and arts for 482 schools since 1911, may be eliminated following his state speech.  2 News
