  • Tulsa’s Little Light House previews spring fundraiser events with a basketball tournament featuring 3 on 3 teams (supporting tuition free therapy and education for kids) on March 28 and a Garden Party brunch on April 11 that will help fund these services.  News On 6

EDUCATION NEWS

  • House Bill 4358, which caps daily screen time for pre-K through 5th graders with exceptions for testing and special education, passed the House Common Education Committee and now moves to the full House — Tulsa Public Schools said they plan to manage split screen time across the day for balanced instruction.  2 News
  • Ascension St. John Foundation is celebrating its 100th anniversary by offering $100,000 in nursing scholarships to community students and associates in accredited nursing programs (2026 Nurse Scholarship Program); applications must be submitted by April 30.  FOX 23
  • House Bill 4427 would bar adjunct teachers from teaching core subjects in Pre-K through fourth grade to improve early literacy. Teachers must work toward certification within two years, and the measure will take effect next fall.  FOX 23

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Oklahoma lawmakers are reviewing a bill that would require school libraries to submit detailed inventories (districts failing to comply could face steep penalties). The measure may change how public and charter schools operate, impacting many local libraries.  FOX 23
  • Tulsa City Council will vote at 5 p.m. tomorrow on a plan to spend up to $2.5 million from Vision Tulsa on work at the site for a new IKEA at Tulsa Hills. The initiative is meant to boost local sales and draw more regional shoppers.  KTUL

HEALTH NEWS

  • A new report shows youth marijuana use rose 73% since medical marijuana legalization in 2018, placing the state third nationally for past-month use. Officials (experts) say increased access from legal and black market sources has raised public health concerns and call for improved youth education.  KTUL

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • The Mental Health Association Oklahoma is reviewing its Tulsa housing portfolio while investing millions to renovate aging apartment complexes. CEO Carrie Blumert said the group is focusing on life-safety upgrades — such as installing security cameras and increasing parking lot lighting — to ensure safe, sustainable homes.  FOX 23
