ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ TFD crews responded Friday morning to a building fire in north Tulsa near Admiral — Lewis and forced entry through the front door to quickly extinguish flames with no one inside while the cause is under investigation amid strong winds. FOX 23
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On Wednesday, Tulsa Police arrested Dillon Honeyman (accused of car burglary) after he was caught trying to break into another car near East 31st Street and South Garnett Road, recovering stolen items including a purse with victim information (Tulsa Police Department). FOX 23
- ➤ On Thursday, U.S. Marshals arrested suspect Jason Bowen for first-degree murder in a Tulsa Police report linking him to the death of missing man Tevin Goff, whose vehicle caught fire and body was found off a roadway near Coweta after he went missing on March 9—Bowen is now held in Dekalb County Jail and will be sent back to Tulsa to face charges. - ➤ Today, the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights launched an investigation into the TU School of Medicine for allegedly offering race-based scholarships and segregating students through its partnership with The Ph.D. Project (which limits eligibility by race). The probe is one of investigations into 45 universities to ensure that student merit drives academic decisions under Title VI. KTUL
- ➤ The Education Department announced Friday that more than 50 universities are under investigation for alleged race-based discrimination in graduate programs; however, officials at the University of Tulsa said its inclusion was a mistake—its School of Medicine does not exist—indicating a possible mix-up with the OU-TU School of Community Medicine.
