COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Homelessness in Tulsa rose in the first three months of 2025 as rising housing costs, inflation and natural disasters including Mannford fires pushed shelter demand up by 10% from last year—shelters are now at capacity. Mayor Nichols plans to end homelessness by 2030 and community organizations such as the Salvation Army are preparing additional resources for future needs.  KTUL

CRIME NEWS

  • Tulsa Police are searching for a driver accused of critically injuring a woman during a hit-and-run outside a bar in east Tulsa on Sunday — the victim is now in the hospital with a broken leg, shattered knee, and injured arm.  News On 6

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Yesterday, the Oklahoma House passed the Lori Brand Patient Bill of Rights Act with 84 votes in favor and 10 against. The bill, written by Rep. Emily Gise (named for a woman who died alone during COVID visitor restrictions), will ensure patients get respectful and informed care.  News On 6
  • Tulsa neighborhoods are set to get city help as Mayor Monroe Nichols launched the NCI Pilot Program to improve issues like crime, loose animals, and code violations — the application process opened yesterday and the one-year pilot will include monthly meetings with city departments.  News On 6
  • The Jenks City Council voted Tuesday evening to officially declare a state of emergency because of the smoldering Gem Dirt fire & will use extra resources to address the incident. This decision sets the stage for an intensified emergency response in the area.  FOX 23

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority recalled Payzos Flower & Buds, Grape Cream Cake Flower & Buds, and Zour Apples Flower & Buds after tests found arsenic or cadmium in these products. Mango Cannabis in South Tulsa said it regrets selling the contaminated products and is working with the investigation while advising anyone who gets sick to see a doctor immediately.  KTUL
  • A Green Country woman—speaking with FOX23 Investigates—thinks that contamination on her family's Bristow superfund site made her family sick and led to her husband's death.  FOX 23
  • The Oklahoma State Department of Health reported that nine measles cases among unvaccinated Oklahomans were recorded as of March 25—seven confirmed and two probable. The department said it is working with the Cherokee Nation, local health care, and the Tulsa Health Department to track and manage the cases.  News On 6
