COMMUNITY NEWS

  • More than 500 volunteers from Tulsa Dream Center are helping rebuild North Tulsa nearly one month after an EF-1 tornado damaged homes and businesses. Residents are clearing debris, cutting down damaged trees, and restoring power in the affected community.  2 News
  • The Salvation Army Tulsa Area Command will host the William Booth Society Gala on April 7 at the Arvest Convention Center – with comedian Jeff Foxworthy as keynote and FOX23's Shae Rozzi as emcee – to raise funds for local food, shelter and youth programs.  FOX 23

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Tulsa Global District is offering grants through its Facade Revitalization Program for storefront owners to update features like signage, lighting, and paint with up to $10,000 in funding. Businesses must apply for eligible upgrades and note that the grant does not cover new construction or interior renovations.  FOX 23

CULTURE NEWS

  • Sarah Mullally was installed last week as the first female archbishop of Canterbury—marking a historic step for female leadership. Tulsa’s own Jane Cleveland Bloodgood, who was ordained at Trinity Church in 1978 at age 78—pioneered this path nearly 50 years ago.  News On 6
  • Tulsa Arts District is hosting free spring & summer events downtown, including weekly Fitness on the Green classes, Sunday Salsa starting April 5, and Food Truck Wednesdays launched today. Art crawls and concerts will run through October to bring live music & dance to the community.  FOX 23
  • Tulsa now features its first musical road segment on Route 66 where 2,847 rumble strips on a 1,005-ft bridge play Bob Dylan's 'This Land is Your Land' when drivers maintain a 35 mph pace timed to 19.46 seconds; city officials added that the installation comes ahead of the May 30 Route 66 Capital Cruise with 2008 classic cars registered.  News On 6
  • Tulsa installed Oklahoma’s first musical road as part of Route 66 Centennial preparations — drivers going 35 mph hear Woody Guthrie’s 'This Land is Your Land' near the Southwest Boulevard Bridge.  FOX 23

  • Oklahoma State Institute of Technology hosted its annual Women in Industry event Tuesday morning, welcoming hundreds of high school students from across the state at its Tulsa campus. The program unfolded under rainy conditions with winds reaching up to 30 mph.  FOX 23
