- ➤ Animal Aid of Tulsa is hosting the People Painting Pets fundraiser to offer pet portraits for $25, with an extra $15 fee for multiple pets + shipping fees for orders outside Tulsa. FOX 23
- ➤ Yesterday, Tulsa Zoo hosted a private encounter with its African penguins on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. — the 30-minute session allowed only eight guests and required children under 16 to be with an adult, and the zoo will offer the experience every weekend going forward. News On 6
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Tulsa police are investigating an early morning shooting on April 6th at an east Tulsa apartment complex that injured a man near parked vehicles where he lost his firearm during a shootout with unidentified suspects and was taken to Ascension St. John Medical Center in stable condition. - ➤ Officers responded at 4:50 a.m. on Sunday to a shooting at an apartment complex in north Tulsa near East Admiral Place and North 129th East Avenue where a man in a truck was injured by a gunshot to his side and said he was in a shootout before the suspect fled after losing his gun—he was taken to a hospital and is stable. FOX 23
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Mayor Nichols and city leaders will hold Community Conversations across Tulsa from April 22 to May 19 to update residents and listen to their concerns—each meeting will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at a specific neighborhood location and allow for one-on-one discussions with officials. - ➤ Oklahoma residents must get a REAL ID or another approved form of identification by May 7 — they have only 30 days to comply with the federal travel requirements. Service Oklahoma has extended appointment hours to Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays to help meet the deadline. News On 6
- ➤ Today begins the final phase of construction on the I-44 and Highway 75 interchange in Tulsa as ODOT will complete flyover ramps, add lanes, and build new bridges to reconnect west Tulsa neighborhoods—drivers must use detours due to ramp closures. The project will take three years to finish. FOX 23
- ➤ Tulsa City Auditor Nathan Pickard invited residents to share their views on city services as part of the Evaluate the 918 campaign which launched Sunday—residents can complete a short survey by May 7 to help shape the next annual audit plan. FOX 23
- ➤ Major construction begins today on the I-44/Highway 75 interchange nicknamed Tulsa Stonehenge after work on empty bridge piers started in 2022. The project includes widening Highway 75 and replacing the 61st Street interchange—drivers will face a closed westbound I-44 ramp to northbound Highway 75 at 9 a.m., nightly lane closures on Highway 75 until April 18, and Skelly Drive closed starting tomorrow until early June.
