COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Tulsa was chosen as the host city for the 2026 National Main Street Conference. Officials said the event will bring over 2,000 visitors & an estimated $3M boost as the city plans to celebrate Route 66’s centennial.  KTUL
  • Volunteers are needed for the 2025 Spring Day of Service in Owasso neighborhoods that were affected by a recent tornado which damaged nearly 300 homes and businesses. The cleanup event will be held on Saturday, May 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.—volunteers must register by April 11.  FOX 23

CRIME NEWS

  • A Sand Springs woman, Shelby McCaffery, who was sexually assaulted during her junior year at Berryhill High School, spoke with FOX23 during Sexual Assault Awareness Month and now helps survivors by passing out teal ribbons and selling T-shirts (all proceeds go to the Demand Project).  FOX 23

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Union Public Schools reported a 1.35% drop in chronic absenteeism during the 2024-2025 school year — about 200 fewer students missed 10% or more school days. The district launched the 'Be Present to Win' campaign and is gathering survey responses from parents, students and teachers through April 18 to guide future attendance improvements.  KTUL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services held a naturalization ceremony at Bishop Kelley High School on Wednesday where candidates took the Oath of Allegiance and received their citizenship certificates. Several new citizens said they felt honored to finish a long process that opened up new opportunities.  FOX 23
  • Tulsa Mayor Monroe Nichols told News On 6 on April 9th that he will hold five community conversation events starting April 22 at Hard City Library—giving citizens a chance to speak directly with city officials—and that his administration is working to boost shelter space and build 6,000 affordable units in four years. He added that local golf experts will upgrade public courses to improve play in Tulsa.  News On 6
