  • The 100 Black Men of Tulsa will host their 32nd Annual Awards and Scholarship Gala this Friday, Apr. 17, with Lori Fulbright leading the event as the group recognizes community members with awards and scholarships.  News On 6
  • Several Tulsa organizations are finalists in the national Adsposure Transit Awards, with public voting opening April 20 on Adsposure's new website. Local campaigns from Hunger Free Oklahoma, Tulsa Tech and the Tulsa City-County Library are competing for top honors.  News On 6

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A gas main break forced evacuations and closed Main Street, A Street and Aquarium Place from Date Street to Birch Street near downtown Jenks Tuesday while police restricted foot traffic and officials determined which areas needed clearing, with Jenks High School remaining safe.  News On 6
  • Roger Burke was killed in a motorcycle crash in Sapulpa while heading to his son's 16th birthday dinner; his family said his Social Security card, cash, and cherished photos were stolen at the scene, and his funeral will be held Monday, Apr. 27 at 10 a.m. in Mannford.  News On 6

  • Anchor and Rose Tattoo near 11th and Harvard is serving customers through its back entrance after a car drove into its front doors last week. Owner Danielle Hicks said no one was injured and she seeks contacts with neon-framing expertise (call 918-794-9292) to fix the Route 66 signage.  FOX 23

  • A confirmed tornado near Jenks Riverside Airport moved northeast at 35 mph while a severe thunderstorm warning with gusts up to 60 mph covers Tulsa & neighboring areas until 10:15 p.m.; residents are urged to seek shelter immediately.  FOX 23

HEALTH NEWS

  • Veterinarians and animal experts warn pet owners that bobcat fever, a fast-moving and deadly illness affecting cats, is rising in Green Country. The warning was issued today, and pet owners should closely monitor their pets (contact a veterinarian if symptoms appear).  FOX 23

  • The Benedictine Sisters of Saint Joseph Monastery will sell their 14.67-acre property, with 40,000 sqft of monastery space & original school buildings at 21st Street and Lewis Avenue, to Monte Cassino School in Tulsa; set at $20 million, the sale lets the Sisters move to a new monastery in Skiatook.  FOX 23
