CRIME NEWS

  • A federal judge sentenced a 57-year-old Grove woman to 15 years in prison for strangling her neighbor during a meth-fueled attack; she will also serve three years of probation after her release.  News On 6

CULTURE NEWS

  • Sammy Rae & the Friends launch the 2025 Off the Cuff Concert Series at Guthrie Green on Saturday, April 26; local acts DJ SUPERP and Count Tutu perform earlier at the free event that features food trucks and a limited-edition Blue Velvet Margarita. The concert begins at 7 p.m. at 111 E. Reconciliation Way and is open to everyone.  News On 6

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A new report showed that Tulsa drivers are facing rising car repair costs because poor road conditions cause issues such as blown tires, bent wheels, bent suspensions, and busted belts. Mechanic Randy Stringer said that lingering pandemic issues and inflation are driving up parts prices (factors making repairs costlier).  News On 6

  • City Year Tulsa held its annual Leadership Luncheon today to honor its AmeriCorps members and women in education + Executive Director Paul Davis and Experience Manager Erica Rodriguez highlighted the group’s role in mentoring nearly 10,000 Tulsa students.  FOX 23

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Tulsa has received 6.6 inches of rain this month, which is more than double the normal amount and may push this April into the top ten wettest on record. Daily rain chances are forecast for the week ahead and additional rain will increase flood risks across the city—be cautious around floodwaters.  FOX 23
  • Friends of the M.e.t. Inc. and ONEOK hosted Enviro Expo yesterday at Guthrie Green, located at 111 Reconciliation Way, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., where locals learned about sustainability through interactive booths, electric vehicle displays and eco education. The free event offered food truck treats — local groups like City of Tulsa Recycling and Tulsa Zoo joined the effort — and a Tulsa County official gave a proclamation for environmental work.  News On 6

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Officials said the State Highway 251A Bridge spanning Fort Gibson Dam was closed indefinitely on Monday, April 21 after an inspection showed increased degradation, though conditions do not pose an immediate dam safety risk. A full replacement design was completed in 2024 — the bridge, built between 1942 and 1949, is the longest in the Tulsa District’s inventory.  KTUL

HEALTH NEWS

  • TSET reports that yoga is helping Tulsa patients with Parkinson's manage tremors—improving sleep and boosting confidence as certified therapist Lisa Bracken now offers one-on-one sessions; local patient Jeff Graham said his symptoms are easing.
