- ➤ Youth Services of Tulsa raised alarm over growing youth homelessness as over 350 young people are on its housing waitlist and many are couch surfing, sleeping in cars, or staying in temporary shelters. The agency is partnering with Tulsa’s Young Professionals to host an event today at 5:30 p.m.—registration is required. News On 6
- ➤ Make-A-Wish Oklahoma held its 20th annual Wish Upon A Par event on Monday at The Oaks Country Club in Tulsa—150 golfers joined and local child Lane learned his wish to visit Legoland. The event featured an auction, food, awards and happy hour and has raised over $2 million in 20 years to help grant about 200 wishes a year. FOX 23

- ➤ On Saturday just after 12:40 p.m., the Tulsa Fire Department responded to a call at Zink Lake after two men became stranded on a rock due to rising water levels—officials confirmed the men were safely retrieved with no injuries. KTUL
- ➤ Sand Springs firefighters rescued 16 people who were stuck in the Arkansas River while riding ATVs—firefighters urged caution because rising waters can quickly make the river dangerous with more rain expected. News On 6
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Tulsa Police responded around 10 p.m. to a small gathering at a North Tulsa home near E 52nd Street N and N Kenosha Avenue on Sunday night—neighbors reported gunshots—and 46-year-old Antwan Washington was shot in the chest, taken to a hospital, and died shortly after while detectives are still seeking any information on a suspect. - ➤ Tulsa police arrested two people after a six-hour standoff in north Tulsa Sunday night when officers responded around 5:30 p.m. to calls about trespassers in a condemned home near East Independence Street + North Hudson Avenue, using pepper balls to remove the pair and later finding contraband while neighbors noted the suspects had trespassed there before, with one being a convicted felon. - ➤ Papa Johns Pizza in Tulsa is celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week by giving one teacher $500 cash—nominations must be submitted on the Papa Johns Tulsa Facebook page by May 8 at 11:59 p.m.—and heart-shaped pizzas will be offered from May 5 to 12. KTUL

- ➤ Tulsa Animal Services is hosting low-cost spay, neuter and vaccine clinics at Tulsa Expo Square today and on May 6 with support from the Humane Society of Tulsa, Tulsa SPCA and the Banfield Foundation—pre-registration is required.
