- ➤ Day of Hope, a Tulsa non-profit, organized a National Day of Prayer celebration that provided groceries, household goods, prayers, and company to nearly 4,000 residents. The event brought together 12 non-profits and 7 churches—planned in just two weeks—to help community members feel seen and cared for. 2 News
- ➤ On May 1st at 6:12 a.m., a lucky couple in Broken Arrow solved the Rooster Days egg hunt by finding an egg hidden under a spring marker at Ray Harrel Nature Park. They will ride in the parade on May 18 for a $1,000 prize—while the egg is donated to The Museum Broken Arrow. News On 6

- ➤ Megan Forbes, a Tulsa veteran and motorcycle rider, died on May 1st when an SUV struck her near Harvard and Pine at 12:21 p.m.—police await toxicology reports to decide on charges. News On 6

- ➤ Downtown Tulsa Partnership hosted its third annual State of Downtown event at Gradient Innovation Lab on Thursday where community leaders reviewed progress on new hospital buildings, mixed-use infill developments and a proposed convention center hotel. The report showed nearly $2 billion in investments and $800 million in active construction — visits declined as fewer national events were held. FOX 23
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Tulsa County emergency officials reported heavy rainfall caused significant flooding along Bird Creek, the Caney River, and southern creeks with several roads in low-lying areas becoming impassable. Bird Creek reached 28 feet before dropping below flood stage on May 1 — officials said the Caney River is expected to fall below flood stage by 1 p.m. today as they continue monitoring conditions. - ➤ Mayor Monroe Nichols presented his $1.117 billion budget proposal to the Tulsa City Council on April 30th, which funds essential city operations such as public safety, housing and economic development—he said the council must approve the plan by June 30th to keep services running. 2 News
- ➤ Wagoner County Citizens Against Corruption filed a petition for a grand jury to remove Sheriff Chris Elliott and District Attorney Jack Thorp after two jail inmates died and another was assaulted at the county jail. A Pittsburg County judge ruled the petition may move forward—registered voters will now be asked to provide signatures. FOX 23
