  • Downtown Tulsa's Boxyard will close after nearly 10 years due to ongoing economic challenges; tenants must vacate by May 29 and management plans to explore redevelopment options for the site.  News On 6

CULTURE NEWS

  • Elote Cafe & Catering hosted its 17th Cinco de Mayo Street Festival on Tuesday, May 5 in downtown Tulsa, featuring street food, margaritas & theatrical lucha libre wrestling with a parachute taco drop and kids designing lucha masks during the Corn Cob Derby.  FOX 23

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Bixby's robotics team earned top marks at the VEX World Championship, ranking among the top five out of 420 teams from 55+ countries. The program, started four years ago, advanced to the Grand Finals in the Dome.  FOX 23
  • Jenks Public Schools held its first Young Athletes Field Day Tuesday at the high school football field, where over 160 young students played with bubbles and hoops while high school volunteers led drills to introduce the fun of sports. Organizers said the event will become an annual tradition.  FOX 23
  • Asher Sauer — a second grader at Allen Bowden Public School — placed second in the OK-250 art contest on Monday at the State Capitol and received a $150 prize as part of the celebration for America’s 250th anniversary.  News On 6
