CULTURE NEWS

  • Mayfest opened in Tulsa Arts District on May 9 with art booths and food trucks ready for visitors; Mayor Monroe Nichols and University of Tulsa President Brad Carson led the ribbon cutting that unveiled a new mural called 'Living on Tulsa Time' and set the stage for 60 musical shows including headliner Grammy winner Mýa and local singer Kaitlin Butts.  News On 6
  • The Black Wall Street Rally returns to historic Greenwood next week starting Wednesday, May 15, as it honors victims of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre and celebrates Black culture. Organizers will host panels on racial justice and promote Black-owned businesses while thousands of riders + local activists join the three-day event.  KTUL

HEALTH NEWS

  • FOX23 toured Laureate Psychiatric Clinic and Hospital's new inpatient units that form part of a multi-phase expansion to boost acute mental health care in Tulsa. The new spaces include a renovated unit in McDonald Hall and a dining area for the Eating Disorders Program (designed to support patients’ treatment), and once complete the facility will have 105 beds with full project completion expected in 2026.  FOX 23

  • The USA BMX Legacy Nationals and USA Cycling Elite BMX National Championships are underway this weekend at Hardesty National BMX Stadium in Tulsa, with Friday's races having begun at 1:30 p.m., today's events starting at 9:30 a.m. and featuring the Pro Series Main event at 1:30 p.m., and Sunday's races set to begin at 8 a.m.—including Team USA Olympians Kamren Larsen, Cam Wood and Tulsa’s Peyton Ridenour.  FOX 23
