  • After a Saturday morning ribbon cutting, the 2025 Tulsa St. Jude Dream Home opened for tours in the Coves at Stone Canyon—this one-story home, staged by Mathis Home and valued at over $1 million, is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. today to give residents a chance to win the home while supporting children fighting cancer.  FOX 23

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Family, friends, and local leaders gathered today at Greater Grace Temple in Tulsa to honor student-athlete DJ Laster Jr. who died in a Kansas head-on collision last week that killed eight people — Mayor Monroe Nichols and Senator Regina Goodwin praised his strong academic and athletic spirit.  KTUL
  • A 59-year-old man named Kelly Walker died after his car left the roadway and rolled near Skiatook on Friday — the crash occurred just after 8:00 p.m. on East 126th Street North near North Harvard Avenue and he was pronounced dead at the scene.  FOX 23

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Tulsa's Greenwood District hosted the 4th annual Black Wall Street Rally on May 17th at 10:17 p.m., drawing nearly 20,000 motorcycle riders who celebrated unity and their shared history. The event boosted the local economy by adding 2.1 million dollars—supporting local businesses and community programs.  News On 6
  • Lawmakers in Washington worked on a major bill and negotiated FY26 funding to prevent a government shutdown, though the process remained uncertain due to party divisions. CDC Global announced a $300 million investment in a new ammunition facility at Mid America Industrial Park in Pryor that will create 350 jobs & will receive $10 million from the governor’s quick action fund if benchmarks are met.  News On 6

  • Brad Carson stepped down as president of the University of Tulsa on May 17 to lead a Washington—D.C.-based AI policy institute that will set national ethical guidelines for AI.   • Members of Tulsa's Jewish community supported Governor Stitt's signing of two bills banning antisemitism — one bill defines antisemitism and the other sets standards for K-20 schools. The bills passed after community leaders worked behind the scenes to ensure religious freedom was protected.  2 News

SPORTS NEWS

  • On May 17th, hundreds joined the Cop Land Classic Bike Ride in Tulsa to honor 41 fallen police officers and raise funds for the Tulsa Police Officers Memorial — cyclist Osborne Celestain, a veteran rider since 2006, completed the 67-mile event while training for his 1,650-mile journey starting May 31st.  News On 6
