ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Crews begin major roadwork today at Tulsa's 91st and Riverside intersection after two teenagers died in a crash earlier this year; outer lanes will close for about two weeks with traffic limited to one lane in each direction during Phase One plus Phase Two will shift closures on June 30 with work finishing by mid-July.  News On 6

CRIME NEWS

  • Tulsa Police said three people were shot outside a North Tulsa home near Denver and 46th Street on June 15 when two adult men were treated for gunshot wounds — one person is in critical condition and a nearby home was hit by stray gunfire while officers searched for a suspect vehicle.  2 News
  • A man named Carlos Garcia was arrested after fleeing police during a street takeover on North Garnett Road in north Tulsa just before midnight Saturday—he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a ditch before being taken to jail for eluding officers.  FOX 23

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Nearly 1,000 Tulsa Public Schools students will enjoy free Friday Fundays with activities such as BMX bike racing, animal encounters and hands-on projects through a new partnership with the Opportunity Project, USA BMX Foundation, Tulsa Zoo and Common Good. The programs will run from morning to afternoon (July 11, July 18, July 25 and Aug. 1) and are available for students in pre-K through eighth grade (funded by local philanthropic organizations including Sanford and Irene Burnstein Family Foundation, Coretz Family Foundation, Flint Family Foundation, Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Philanthropies and Anne & Henry Zarrow Foundation).  FOX 23

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Oklahoma lawmakers debated a new initiative petition law, open primaries, and college athlete pay on June 15th. They also discussed tuition hikes at OU and a tuition freeze at OSU (with Senator Rosino and Representative Bennett leading the debate) (as concerns over state funding were raised).  News On 6
  • Governor Kevin Stitt signed HB 2262, which increases transparency in Alzheimer’s and dementia care by requiring memory care facilities, referral agencies, and caregivers to provide a detailed disclosure form on staff training and care policies. The law also allows families to file complaints if these notices are not given—thereby holding care providers accountable.  News On 6
  • Brent Swadley's lawyer filed a motion on June 15 to ask the court to remove Attorney General Gentner Drummond from the fraud case after stating that her public comments hurt Swadley's right to a fair trial & his business. A court hearing will be set in late July or early August as the attorney general's office vows to oppose the motion.  News On 6
