- ➤ At the Tulsa Zoo, staff said that Billy and Tina, two Asian elephants from the Los Angeles Zoo, arrived on June 16th and remain in quarantine while they adjust to their new surroundings. They are receiving positive reinforcement training—helping them build trust before joining the resident herd. News On 6
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Highway 75 is closed in both directions from Pine to Apache after a semi-truck rollover spilled metal piping and injured a driver — officers are diverting traffic and urging drivers to avoid the area. KTUL
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ The historic Moton Hospital in north Tulsa, built after the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, is being turned into the GEM Project—a resource center for Black entrepreneurs that will house the Liquid Lounge Coffee Shop and offer modern AI tools. Black Tech Street said the center will work with Tulsa officials and community groups, is expected to open by February 2026, and will host free, hands-on AI training on June 27 and 28. FOX 23
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Skiatook Police arrested Chad Weathers on Monday after he told officers he shot his girlfriend, Tanya Anderson, on Saturday night near Osage and Chestnut; officers found her body in a bedroom and he is held in Osage County jail for first-degree murder—police are still investigating the case. - ➤ Tulsa police arrested a suspect linked to multiple break-ins at dispensaries, including Medicated Dispensary which lost over $40,000 in products from burglaries on June 1, June 12, and June 15—Skyleaf Dispensary has also been hit over ten times with about $10,000 in damages—and officers are still investigating if the same group is involved. - ➤ On Monday, June 16th, Cat Cox of Country Bird Bakery in Tulsa won the Outstanding Pastry Chef or Baker award at the 2025 James Beard Awards. Her bakery is known for its handmade baked goods using local ingredients. News On 6

- ➤ The Wagoner County Board of Commissioners voted 2-1 to reject a solar energy company's plan to build a nearly 5,000-acre solar farm in Porter after nearly three hours of debate with public input — local residents and property owners raised concerns about losing farmland and declining property values. The decision supports community efforts to keep Wagoner County’s agricultural landscape intact. KTUL
- ➤ Jenks mayor Cory Box proclaimed Seamore Day and awarded a Key to the City to Seamore the loggerhead at the Oklahoma Aquarium on June 16 at 11 a.m.—the ceremony marked a historic first for a sea turtle and underlined his role in marine education. - ➤ A Saint Francis patient said she was given a medication (Vibramycin) she was allergic to during an abscess drainage in April, which led to severe vomiting, diarrhea, rash, and pain that kept her in the hospital for 17 days. She said she warned her care team about her allergy but received little follow-up care; she now considers legal action and is using a GoFundMe to help with the costs. KTUL
