CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Local law enforcement and the Humane Society of Tulsa rescued 148 beagles from dire conditions at two Rogers County properties after neighbors complained, and Rogers County Sheriff Scott Walton said suspects breeding dogs without a valid license may face multiple animal cruelty charges — all dogs are now receiving care. - ➤ The Oklahoma Society for Culture Appreciation will host Tokyo, OK from July 10 to 13 at Marriott Tulsa Southern Hills, where fans will enjoy over 300 hours of programming, special guest appearances, cosplay contests, and charity events benefiting Bikers Against Child Abuse—celebrating Japanese culture in its 17th year. - ➤ Governor Stitt announced new aerospace projects for Oklahoma after returning from the 2025 Paris Air Show, including a Kratos Defense facility in Bristow expected to create 60 jobs and a Dawn Aerospace partnership to enable spaceflights from the Oklahoma Air and Space Port in Burns Flat by 2027. State officials also unveiled new educational programs in simulation technology and business to support a growing aerospace industry + these projects aim to boost Oklahoma’s role in national defense and commercial spaceflight. - ➤ Tulsa has settled a lawsuit with the Muscogee Creek Nation so that tribal courts will handle criminal cases involving Creek citizens—Mayor Monroe Nichols said the city will work with tribal leaders to set up a process for police to verify tribal affiliation. The settlement ends a legal fight that began in 2023 over Tulsa’s authority to try tribal members for crimes on reservation land. News On 6
- ➤ Tulsa Housing Authority secured funding to build The Hilltop—a 106-unit affordable apartment complex next to its office on East Independence Street downtown. Twenty units are set aside for chronically homeless individuals using City HOME-ARP funds—combined with Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, philanthropic contributions, and THA’s investment. FOX 23
- ➤ Dr. Angela K. Chambers, a lifelong Tulsa advocate, urged city leaders to expand the proposed teen curfew citywide — not just downtown — to help keep all neighborhoods safer. She also called for a portion of a two million dollar grant to be used to target illegal gun access among youth. KTUL
