- ➤ Greenwood Rising is hosting its Books for Thought series today at 6 p.m. at the Greenwood Rising History Center (in the historic Greenwood District), where Tulsa native Julian Thomas will discuss Black literature, identity and his latest work. The free event is open to the public. News On 6
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Green Country Tourism celebrated its 60th anniversary at its annual meeting on June 17 at the Lodge at Sequoyah State Park in Hulbert and announced its new 2026 board of officers, which includes leaders from Cherokee Nation Cultural Tourism and Tulsa Zoo. Sterling Zearley from the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department spoke about the growing tourism industry in Oklahoma—an industry that supports local jobs and attracts visitors across 18 northeast counties. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Tulsa Housing Authority secured $36 million to build The Hilltop, a new downtown project with 106 units that includes 20 for individuals facing chronic homelessness. Groundbreaking is planned for September — the project will replace the old Sunset Plaza Apartments and boost affordable housing for downtown workers. News On 6
- ➤ Today, the City of Tulsa and the Muscogee Nation signed an agreement that allows Tulsa police to pull over and ticket drivers while municipal cases for tribal members are handled by the Muscogee Nation court—state and federal cases remain unchanged. A working group of city and tribal officials will meet over the next 30 days to finalize the procedural details. 2 News

- ➤ The Indian Health Care Resource Center of Tulsa will unveil a 62,000—square—foot expansion on July 2 at 530 S. Peoria Ave to add dental operatories, optometry exam rooms, therapy spaces, and more pharmacy drive—through lanes. Tulsa Mayor Monroe Nichols and Muscogee Nation Second Chief Del Beaver will speak at the event, which will also feature a Cedar Blessing and flag—raising to celebrate Native American culture. KTUL
- ➤ Students in Tulsa launched a healthy food box program at YouthWorks Ranch on June 25 with support from Sun Life and DentaQuest to help lower high childhood obesity rates in the area.
