COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Community members and faith leaders gathered in Tulsa's Greenwood District on Saturday morning to pray for victims of a shooting at the Juneteenth Festival that killed 22-year-old Isaiah Knight and injured seven others—organizer Glo Cato said the event aimed to restore safe streets.  News On 6
  • Smitty's Garage Burgers & Beer in Owasso will host a benefit night on Monday, June 30th to support Wild Heart Ranch in Claremore—an organization that faces high costs caring for fawns, raccoons, and birds. The restaurant donates 10% of its proceeds to nonprofits and aims to raise funds to help the ranch manage its limited capacity.  FOX 23

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Jenks and Bristow Public Schools dropped their lawsuits against the state board of education after both sides filed a joint motion to dismiss the cases with prejudice on June 26—this dismissal means the districts will not be able to refile the legal actions as they adjust their student transfer policies.  KTUL

  • Heavy rain caused flash flooding in Tulsa & Broken Arrow on Saturday, June 28 as rising water turned streets and parking lots into fast-moving streams that forced residents to avoid the flooded areas.  News On 6

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lawmakers are negotiating changes to the reconciliation bill as Medicaid cuts risk putting rural hospitals in Oklahoma in danger of major funding losses—officials also oppose a DoD plan to cancel the E-7 program in favor of space-based surveillance amid defense budget delays. Oklahoma congressional leaders such as Senator Lankford are pushing to protect these programs while further talks may affect future federal support.  News On 6

  • The Oklahoma Dental Association criticized Governor Stitt’s executive order that removed the fluoride recommendation in public drinking water, arguing that water fluoridation has improved oral health for over seven decades.
