COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Today, the Soil Institute launched a new nonprofit in Tulsa to help underserved communities by addressing food insecurity and boosting local health. The organization has already started building its solar-powered micro grocery store called Storehouse—which is a 2300 square foot space that will offer fresh food from local farms and plans to expand its projects until 2030 before ending its work in Tulsa.  2 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Sixpence None the Richer will perform at The Church Studio on July 12 during their 50-city anniversary tour—doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the performance starts at 7:00 p.m. for an exclusive audience of 100 guests.  FOX 23

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The EPA found 109 barrels near North MLK Boulevard and East 43rd Street in September 2024 and noted that 67 showed signs of hazardous waste. Lifelong resident Connie Cleveland said she was worried that the barrels near her neighborhood could affect everyone and urged the EPA (DEQ) to fix the problem.  2 News

  • Today, Tulsa officials warn residents that fireworks are illegal in the city and that violators face a $220 fine and loss of all fireworks. The Fire Department says penalties increase if unsafe use causes fires or injuries — using a gun as a substitute is not allowed.  FOX 23
