COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Dr. Jerry Griffin, a Tulsa veteran and former board member who served in Vietnam, started collecting mobility aids for fellow veterans after a restaurant visitor asked if he knew someone in need of a wheelchair. He accepted donations (including walkers and wheelchairs) at 6552 East 60th Street during the week of July 14.  2 News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Tulsa police said officers responded around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday night to a crash near East 21st Street and Highway 169 that left a 24-year-old woman dead—initial reports noted a man driving westbound struck her turning car, pushing it off the road.  FOX 23

CRIME NEWS

  • Two Tulsa County Sheriff's Office employees—a deputy and her part-time clerk daughter—were fired after being charged with stealing nearly 20 items worth $91.68 from a Glenpool grocery store and later turning themselves in with both bonding out of jail.  News On 6

CULTURE NEWS

  • Disney On Ice 'Let's Dance' will feature characters from Wish, Moana, Frozen 2 and more in a new ice show at the Tulsa State Fair. The show runs from September 25 to September 28 at the Expo Square Pavilion plus fans can join a special preshow to meet Anna and Elsa through games and sing-alongs.  News On 6
  • The documentary Pike Off OTA: Turnpike ACCESS Denied screened on Monday at Circle Cinema (1:30 p.m.) as part of the 2025 Film Festival, and a Q&A with the producer, director, and on-camera participants followed the screening.  FOX 23

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A two-week band camp called Brass in the Ballpark began Monday in downtown Tulsa when the King Cabbage Brass Band started tutoring 7th to 12th graders at the Fly Loft from 1 to 3 p.m. The camp runs until July 25 and will end with live performances at ONEOK Field on July 26 + 27.  FOX 23
  • Tulsa Community College will stage Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Musical from July 24 to July 27 — the production takes place at the VanTrease Performing Arts Center for Education on TCC’s Southeast Campus. 13-year-old Riley Martin stars as Greg Heffley — a middle schooler facing humorous challenges in this stage adaptation of the bestselling book series.  News On 6

HEALTH NEWS

  • EMSA warns that on a 100-degree day a parked car heats up quickly—reaching 119 degrees in ten minutes and 134 degrees in 30 minutes—and advises people to move to a cool place and drink water when they feel signs of heat exhaustion like dizziness, nausea, or red, dry skin. Riley Howard said children heat up three to five times faster than adults and recommended placing a personal item in the back seat to remind drivers not to leave them in a hot car.  FOX 23

  • Toby Rowland released his list of 10 coaches and players to watch at SEC Media Days, which took place in Atlanta on July 14, noting that rising stars and experienced coaches are set to influence the SEC football season.
