CRIME NEWS

  • On July 16th, 2025, Tulsa police arrested a woman and her husband after officers forced entry into her apartment near 61st and Garnett, where they found a dental chair, tools, and drugs used in a fake dental practice; both are accused of having a gun while committing a felony and obstructing justice (further charges are pending).  News On 6
  • Attorneys for former death row inmate Richard Glossip filed a motion on Wednesday asking a judge to force Attorney General Gentner Drummond to honor a 2023 settlement that promised immediate release based on credit for time served & Drummond said no final plea agreement was reached as the state plans to retry him for murder.  News On 6
  • On Wednesday, the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, working with the Oklahoma Dental Board + Homeland Security Investigations, served a search warrant at a Tulsa apartment on E. 61st Street where officials found a makeshift dental office and took Carol Marcella Gutierrez Herrera + another man into custody for unlicensed dental work.  KTUL
  • Tulsa Police Department introduced a new K-9, Ripley, that is specially trained to sniff out chemicals on electronic storage devices used for child sex abuse material—donated by the Secret Service, she also comforts rescued children and supports officers handling tough investigations.  2 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • All-American Rejects performed a surprise pop-up concert at WOMPA in Tulsa Monday night, raising over $1,300 for the Tulsa On Tour grant program during Tulsa Music Month+ the event admitted 750 fans after a last-minute video contest for tickets.  News On 6

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Tulsa County Board of Commissioners voted 3–0 to approve a zoning change for Project Clydesdale, a proposed cybersecurity center near the Whirlpool plant outside of Owasso. Commissioners said they addressed community concerns—further discussions will determine the overall project.  FOX 23
  • The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority announced it will use $72 million in toll money to fix the bouncy Roller Coaster Bridge—replacing 484 beams, upgrading walls, and updating the concrete deck. Work will start this fall and is expected to finish by summer 2027 as local drivers have long complained about the dangerous ride.  FOX 23

SPORTS NEWS

  • Sports analyst Jeremie Poplin said that Oklahoma sports are busy in July as college football teams face roster changes and a 17-year-old shortstop from Fort Cobb is picked No.1 in the MLB Draft. He explained that Joe Castiglione left a lasting impact at OU and both Tulsa and Oklahoma State are rebuilding with new coaches and players — the season promises big changes in college sports.  News On 6
