COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Haruv Tulsa and the Oklahoma Coalition Against Human Trafficking are hosting an education event today at the Schusterman Learning Center on the OU-Tulsa campus to address child sex trafficking and familial exploitation. The public session runs from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.—registration is $10 with available scholarships and expert presenters outlining key indicators to help local residents spot trafficking signs.  FOX 23
  • Gloria Marcott, a Tulsa woman who survived an attack at age 12, now leads Soul Punch Self-Defense classes that blend trauma-informed techniques—practical skills and technology—to help women protect themselves. Participants such as Jenny Voss, who joined the course with her daughter, say the training gives them tools to stay safe.  2 News
  • The Tulsa SPCA will host its annual Bingo Bash fundraiser on Saturday August 2 at OU-Tulsa’s Founders Hall to support pet adoptions and animal care programs—doors and the bar open at 5:00 p.m., dinner begins at 6:00 p.m. and bingo games start at 6:30 p.m.  News On 6

CRIME NEWS

  • Noe Cruz, who was on trial for a 2023 first-degree murder after his judge was disqualified, was arrested for domestic violence after a fight with his girlfriend over a phone—he now faces charges of Domestic Violence in the First Offense and Malicious Injury to Property.  FOX 23
  • A 23-year-old woman, Cierra Galloway, was charged with first-degree manslaughter, aggravated DUI and reckless driving after her Chevy Malibu crossed over the center line on wet roads near 4600 N. MLK Jr. Boulevard on June 3 at 7:40 p.m.—the crash left a 5-year-old boy fatally injured and another driver and a mother hospitalized.  KTUL

  • The Tulsa Foundation for Architecture will offer guided tours of underground tunnels on Aug. 9—this event allows local history fans to explore passageways that connect iconic oil era buildings. Tickets sell quickly and tour start times range from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  News On 6

  • The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Supreme Court ruled that Creek Freedmen and their descendants are entitled to full citizenship after the Citizenship Board was found to have acted contrary to law when it denied applications, including those of Rhonda Grayson and Jeffrey Kennedy.  KTUL

HEALTH NEWS

  • On Tuesday, July 22nd, Ascension St. John was designated as Tulsa’s only Level I Trauma Center — it now offers round-the-clock specialist care for severe injuries in eastern Oklahoma and southern Kansas.  News On 6
