- ➤ Nelson Mazda Tulsa will host its annual Backpack Drive on Thursday at its Tulsa location, giving away free backpacks, school supplies and everyday essentials to local families. The event runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.—while supplies last—and allows up to five backpacks per family and two families per vehicle. FOX 23
- ➤ The Humane Society of Tulsa said more than 400 Maltese dogs rescued from a Stroud business have received critical veterinary care — including dental check-ups and treatment for infections — and are now having their matted fur shaved for better health. - ➤ Jerry Hine, owner of Add Love Pets in Stroud, was charged with 408 counts of animal cruelty after over 400 Maltese dogs were rescued from his business where they suffered in appalling conditions (rescue groups noted extreme ammonia levels and pest infestations). FOX 23
- ➤ Tulsa police responded just before midnight to a call at a QuikTrip on 11th Street—Utica where officers found a woman with a gunshot wound to her hip after a shooting at the EZ Pawn, and suspect Joseph Ryan was arrested an hour later after reporting a carjack attempt near the pawn shop—he now faces two counts of shooting with intent to kill. - ➤ Ascension St. John Medical Center in Tulsa earned certification as a Level 1 Trauma Center on July 24th at 1:24 p.m.—a designation that followed years of upgrades to staff, facilities, and training, and now provides trauma care 24/7 without the need for patient transfers.
