- ➤ A Tulsa nonprofit is highlighting how former inmates face strict background check rules—many are denied housing even as recent policy changes ease some barriers. Shawna Detmer of the Center for Employment Opportunities said these challenges deepen housing insecurity and make reentry into society harder. KTUL
- ➤ Meals on Wheels Metro Tulsa struggles to deliver meals to 1,400 homebound clients due to a volunteer shortage; volunteer manager Aubrey Wheland said more substitute drivers—15 on Tuesdays and others as needed—are required to fill gaps when regular volunteers are unavailable. News On 6
- ➤ Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa is short 15 volunteers and this shortage is causing fewer deliveries of nutritious meals and pet food to homebound seniors and people with disabilities & staff say that even an hour or two of volunteer time can help boost services. - ➤ Tulsa Police said a 23-year-old man was killed and a 26-year-old was injured after a shooting at a north Tulsa club on Sunday morning near East Apache Street and North Yale Avenue — officers arrested suspect Jaida McGrew after witnesses reported a fight and recovered a gun from a car. FOX 23
- ➤ Police responded at 9:10 p.m. Sunday to St. Thomas More Catholic Church near 27th and 129th East Ave when a fight at a community outreach event turned deadly after a teen drew a gun and shot 15-year-old Alexander Puentes, who died in hospital — authorities have identified a teen suspect and are working to make an arrest. - ➤ A 15-year-old boy was fatally shot at a community outreach event at St. Thomas More Catholic Church near 31st & 129th East Avenue on Sunday night, and Tulsa Police say they are searching for a suspect believed to be an adult in his 20s. News On 6
- ➤ Tulsa police rescued a stolen puppy Sunday evening, July 27 after officers quickly tracked a suspect seen taking the dog from its yard around 5:40 p.m.—their swift teamwork returned the pet safely to its relieved owner. News On 6
- ➤ Police said a teenager died after being shot during a church festival on Tulsa’s east side when a fight between two juveniles turned violent+ the suspected teen shooter is still at large as officers gather witness statements. News On 6
