CRIME NEWS

  • A Tulsa woman convicted 43 years ago for killing her husband attended a resentencing hearing yesterday to ask for release under the Survivors’ Act—claiming she suffered years of abuse—while family members and prosecutors argued her actions were premeditated, with the judge set to decide on September 19.  News On 6
  • Former Spring Creek Elementary teacher Andrew McGann is accused of murdering two people at Devil's Den State Park in Arkansas—Broken Arrow families are shocked to learn they once knew him as their kind teacher.  2 News
  • Tulsa Police arrested 20-year-old Tyri Rodgers in connection with the Juneteenth shooting that left Isaiah Knight dead and seven injured; officials said Rodgers was seen taking a gun from another suspect and now faces accessory to a felony, unlawful weapon carrying, and receiving concealed property charges with a bond set at $1-million.  KTUL
  • Tulsa police said a man surrendered after calling 911 to admit he shot his mother multiple times late Thursday night at the 89 East Apartments near 71st and Mingo—she was taken to a hospital and investigators are working to determine a motive.  News On 6
  • Police investigated human remains found at about 2:45 a.m. on July 31 near 1200 East I-244 westbound—City workers noticed a shoe near the barrier that led a Highway Patrol trooper to locate the body as Crime Scene Investigators and the Medical Examiner examined the area.  News On 6

  • Matthew McConaughey will bring his Poems & Prayers Revival Tour to Tulsa this fall at Tulsa PAC on Friday, September 19 at 7 p.m.—the event will feature live music, spoken word, conversation with a special guest, and the promotion of his new book Poems & Prayers. Tickets include a reserved seat and a hardcover copy of the book, and are available through the Tulsa PAC box office.  News On 6

  • Union Public Schools in Tulsa is changing student bus routes and schedules for the 2025-26 school year due to increased transportation demands and driver availability — the adjustments will take effect when classes begin.  FOX 23

HEALTH NEWS

  • A Tulsa-developed heart valve gave new hope to patients by using a minimally invasive treatment for mitral valve disease—tested locally before gaining approval in Europe. Dr. Kamran Muhammad said local trials allowed some patients to access the valve ahead of full U.S. approval.  News On 6
