COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Tulsa Farmers’ Market will remain open during a $2.1M construction project in Kendall Whittier as city crews replace water lines and rebuild the East Admiral and Lewis intersection (work is set to finish in February). Market organizers will add parking maps and an online ordering system (launched in May) to help shoppers navigate the area.  News On 6

  • The Oklahoma Onsite Wastewater Association will host its 2025 Annual Conference and Trade Show in Tulsa at the Renaissance Tulsa Hotel and Convention Center from Sept. 23 to Sept. 25—attendees can expect training sessions, vendor exhibits, panel discussions, and an industry appreciation party with keynote speaker Mike Agugliaro, while additional CEU sessions will be available on Sept. 23 for a fee.  FOX 23

CRIME NEWS

  • The TCSO Child Predator Unit has two investigators and will add a third as it handles five to ten online child pornography cases per week amid a rise in activity from kids at home — its work led to the arrest of Tulsa County Area Emergency Manager Joseph Kralicek after a tip about a Kik account.  2 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Yesterday, the Tulsa Air & Space Museum launched Operation Warthog—an effort to secure the A-10 Thunderbolt II for its permanent collection—and ask aviation fans to honor retired Col. Kenneth Craib. Museum officials say the restored aircraft will arrive in late 2025 or early 2026 as a centerpiece for new exhibits.  News On 6

EDUCATION NEWS

  • State Superintendent Ryan Walters announced that approved benchmark assessments will replace high-stakes end-of-year tests in math and English Language Arts for grades 3 to 8 starting in the 2025 to 2026 school year. The change follows survey results showing 81% of nearly 23,000 parents opposed state testing (local districts will gain more flexibility).  FOX 23
  • City Year Tulsa is recruiting AmeriCorps members for the 2025 to 2026 school year to help students succeed in Tulsa schools. The nonprofit partners with local schools to boost academic support and leadership training along with a $7,395 Segal Education Award (applications are open until Sept 12 and service starts Oct 14).  News On 6

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond joined attorneys general nationwide to warn 37 phone companies for breaking federal rules on illegal robocalls — the companies have not filed the required plans to curb these calls. The coalition said the firms will face legal action if they do not comply.  News On 6

  • Tulsa University's women's soccer team held a garage sale and school supply drive on Friday and will host the event again today from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Tulsa Hurricane Soccer Stadium (collecting backpacks, crayons, notebooks and more to support local schools).  FOX 23
