  • On Sunday, a St. Jude family in Owasso came home to a surprise renovation led by HGTV stars Dave and Jenny Marrs and more than 120 volunteers who started work on Saturday at 10 a.m.+ The project updated the kitchen, bathroom, and living room+ added a Disney princess playhouse for Teal while an episode airs on HGTV in January.  FOX 23
  • Today, Skiatook Paws & Claws Animal Rescue held an event for 37 Maltese dogs rescued from a breeder in Stroud — the dogs are now available for adoption. Board member Amber Ridenour said the team and the Humane Society of Tulsa provided extensive socialization and stressed that new owners must follow detailed care instructions — ensuring the dogs adjust safely to their new homes.  FOX 23

CRIME NEWS

  • Authorities have issued a Silver Alert for 71-year-old Patretia Mathews, who was last seen Friday in the Bristow area and is reported to have dementia, with officials searching along Jones and Webster roads using drones and tracking dogs—they ask that people not interfere with the search.  KTUL

  • Dozens of protesters gathered at the state Capitol to demand impeachment of State Superintendent Ryan Walters after a report ranked Oklahoma 50th in education + an investigation continues over allegations that nude images appeared on a television in his office.  News On 6

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Oklahoma lawmakers discussed new SNAP rules that will ban soda and candy purchases starting Jan. 1, 2026—arguing the change will boost healthier choices. They also addressed a Texas redistricting dispute and a new state law that bans cell phones all day in classrooms to improve focus as the school year begins.  News On 6

  • Tulsa National finished third in the Little League Softball World Series on Sunday, August 10th when the team beat North Carolina 3-2 in the Consolation Third Place Game; Harmoneigh White pitched six innings (walking two and striking out five) to help secure the win.  News On 6
  • The Tulsa Drillers will return home tomorrow to ONEOK Field in a playoff race boosted by new roster additions from the MLB trade deadline. President and General Manager Mike Melega said strong pitching and an improved bullpen helped the team overcome a slow first half + the schedule now features key matchups against Corpus Christi, Springfield, and Midland.  News On 6
