  • Former Oklahoma Sooners star Buddy Hield returned on August 15th to host the first Hoops and Partners charity game at the University of Tulsa’s Reynolds Center—partnering with The Zone Academy and Tulsa Dream Center to raise funds for North Tulsa nonprofits that support youth with education and resources.  News On 6

CRIME NEWS

  • A 71-year-old Bristow woman, Patricia Mathews, has been missing for a week after leaving her home, and her car was found in a rural area last Sunday; officials (including the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies) say they will search for her today at 8 a.m. due to concerns over her health in the extreme heat.  2 News
  • Tulsa County law enforcement responded near N. Peoria Ave and East 66th St North to a Thursday morning shooting between three known individuals that left 34-year-old Stephen George Cox fatally wounded after he accused suspect Jovohn Kadavion Blanke of theft, and Blanke was taken into custody—now facing first-degree murder, shooting with intent to kill, and firearm possession charges.  FOX 23

  • Tulsa Stained Glass celebrated its 50th anniversary on August 15th by launching new coloring books that let customers personalize EMOSY designs—encouraging self-expression in every project. The studio is known for its custom stained glass windows and creative classes, and it is located at 4129 South Sheridan Road.  News On 6

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Tulsa police have reminded drivers to slow down and stop when school buses extend their stop arms—rules set to protect children as classes resume. The guidelines require drivers on two-lane and multi-lane roads to stop, and fines may be doubled for violations.  News On 6

HEALTH NEWS

  • Ascension St. John is now Tulsa's only level 1 trauma center—meeting strict survey standards to offer 24/7 care for injuries ranging from minor cuts to life-threatening wounds. The hospital also has upgraded resources and will partner with OU-Tulsa for training and research—improving local emergency response.  2 News
