  • Howard Park off Route 66 near West 25th Street in West Tulsa will soon feature a 66-foot dinosaur statue funded by a $225,000 grant to boost tourism ahead of the centennial in November; local resident Michael Cheo said the statue will bring more kids and the project will add new walking trails and lighting—expected to finish in March.  2 News
  • Yesterday, Tulsa Area United Way held its sixth annual Downtown Deco event at Sixth and Main—where Price Family Properties donated $100 each time a person or pet passed under the balloon arch—and raised $100,000 for over 160 local programs.  News On 6

  • River Parks has closed the Zink Lake Wave Pool after a drowning occurred on Aug 15 — a meeting will be held on Aug 25 to decide on safety measures.  2 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Drivers in Tulsa’s SOBO district saw relief when two-way traffic returned near 18th and Boston on Saturday night as part of the Improve Our Tulsa 1 bond package. Crews continue work on Boston Avenue sidewalks and paving, and the full project will finish by Dec. 7—providing new lighting and accessible routes once complete.  News On 6

  • BMX riders practiced on Saturday at USA BMX headquarters just north of downtown and will begin championship heats today as 300 to 400 racers compete for state titles—boosting local business activity.  KTUL
  • BMX riders are set to compete in the state finals at USA BMX Headquarters in Tulsa today under clear skies and mild wind conditions.  FOX 23
  • FC Tulsa played a match against Orange County SC Saturday at 7:30 p.m.—the team held a Back-to-School drive to offer students needed supplies and support the community.  FOX 23
