  • An interim study at the Capitol on human trafficking shows officials examining how social media lures victims and how cultural hurdles lead some to not recognize exploitation—Tulsa Police Officer Inglee and narcotics investigators are testing a campaign called You Are Not Alone that uses QR codes in bathrooms to help victims access support.  KTUL

CULTURE NEWS

  • Visitors have until this Labor Day weekend to see Catoosa’s iconic Blue Whale before it closes for renovations that include a new visitor center, restrooms, and a play area along the Mother Road. City officials say work will begin September 2nd — renovations are expected to take several months and finish by summer for the Route 66 centennial celebration.  News On 6

  • Teachers from California and New York who want to work in Oklahoma must pass a new 50-question 'America First' exam designed with PragerU—officials say it protects American values—and critics warn it may deepen the state's teacher shortage.  News On 6

  • Tulsa opened the Tre Lamb era with a 35+7 win over Abilene Christian, led by Dominic Richardson’s career-high 142 rushing yards and a touchdown and backed by a defense that held the opponent scoreless until the fourth quarter. Tulsa will face New Mexico State on Sept. 6 at 8 p.m. CT.  News On 6
  • FC Tulsa ended its 14-match unbeaten streak with a 2-0 loss to Colorado Springs Saturday night — the match saw 29 fouls and goals from Quenzi Huerman and Cole Mrowka deciding the result. Despite the loss, the team remains in first place and will host Birmingham Legion FC on September 6 at 7:30 p.m.  News On 6
