- ➤ Several Oklahoma fire departments donated twenty-five to thirty sets of bunker gear to Turley Fire and Rescue to replace gear that was up to fifteen years old—Fire Chief Nelson Sager said the donations help keep volunteer firefighters safe as the department prepares to update its equipment. 2 News
- ➤ Today, the Humane Society of Tulsa returns with Operation PitStop for its third year, offering $35 spay/neuter procedures and $15 vaccine packages to help Tulsa pets—appointments and events will run at LaFortune Park from Sept. 6 to Sept. 9. FOX 23

ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A 13-year-old boy died after a fireworks accident in west Tulsa on Monday—police said he was setting off a mortar-style firework at Sandy Park Apartments when he went into cardiac arrest and could not be saved. FOX 23

- ➤ The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office arrested 32-year-old Steven Rozzell—accused of throwing Molotov cocktails and pepper spray during an argument near North 97th East Avenue and Highway 20 in Collinsville on Aug. 17 as a vehicle caught fire—and later stopped him near West Albany Street and South 136th East Avenue in Broken Arrow. - ➤ On Saturday, Tulsa Police arrested a man for kidnapping after a high-speed chase near Dawson Park ended in a crash near 100 N Toledo Ave— the suspect admitted smoking meth and had a firearm warrant from a previous felony as a distressed woman in his car pleaded to be freed before he fled on foot and was caught by a K9 unit. - ➤ OG&E has requested approval for two new natural gas generators to meet growing demand. If approved, residential electricity bills will rise by 60 cents in 2026 — a staggered hike that will push monthly costs nearly $5 higher by 2031. News On 6

- ➤ A state audit found that DHS’s five-star daycare rating system was deeply flawed when daycares could self-certify without in-person checks—resulting in 1,200 inflated ratings, rising taxpayer costs, and a 4% drop in childcare providers in Tulsa. FOX 23
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Fentanyl overdose deaths in Oklahoma surged from 50 in 2019 to 609 in 2022 and reached 748 in 2023, with fentanyl involved in 90% of opioid deaths that year. The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics reported large seizures of over 51 million milligrams of fentanyl—enough to potentially kill 26 million adults—and officials blamed illegal shipments from Mexican cartels while lawmakers worked to strengthen trafficking laws.
