CRIME NEWS

  • At around 3:30 a.m. at a QuikTrip, Tulsa police arrested Brandon Martinez after he bit an officer during a struggle when he was ordered from his car with open alcohol containers, and he was later booked on charges including assault and battery on a police officer — he has since bonded out while the injured officer received treatment.  FOX 23

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Tulsa Mayor Monroe Nichols announced that Alternative Response Team 2 will now have mental health clinicians available seven days a week to handle 911 calls and support those facing homelessness. The program, which began in April, shifts calls from fire and police to professionals—addressing gaps that Operation SAFE has not closed.  KTUL
  • Attorney Jim Roth on Hot Seat said that Oklahoma lawmakers must balance property rights with energy policy—renewable energy projects face stricter setback rules than oil and gas operations. He noted that renewable proposals need a 1.5 nautical mile buffer from airports, hospitals, and schools—requirements not required for oil and gas projects.  News On 6
  • Tri-City Collective announced its free Real Talk Event—'Who’s Behind the Curtain? The Influencers, Advisors & Algorithms that Shape our Local Politics'—scheduled for Saturday, September 20 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at Pursuit Films in Tulsa’s historic Whittier Square, where Carlos Moreno will lead a panel featuring John Waldron, Tania Garza, Sarah Baker, and Anitra Parish, and the event will stream live on YouTube.  FOX 23
