  • The Tulsa Day Center is nearing its 40th anniversary and is asking Tulsa residents to support Donate 918, a drive on Sept. 18 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at WOMPA on Charles Page Boulevard to collect essential items for its 24/7 shelter that helps over 300 people daily — reinforcing vital support for those facing homelessness.  News On 6
  • On Friday, September 12, over 4,000 volunteers helped clean, paint, and plant in Tulsa during the 34th Day of Caring event led by Tulsa Area United Way—bringing together 146 local companies and nonprofits.   • Firefighter Brad Lewallen returned home on September 12th with many fire departments escorting him along I-40—he spent 72 days in hospital after a Tuskahoma fireworks explosion that killed one and injured four—and a fundraiser is set for September 20th at Keys High School to aid his recovery and reconnect him with his family.  News On 6

  • Colonel Eileen Collins, the first woman to pilot a Space Shuttle, will visit the Tulsa Air and Space Museum on Sept. 18 for a documentary screening, book signing, and audience Q&A—tickets are needed for the screening and Q&A sessions.  News On 6

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Broken Arrow police and fire leaders visited the Ford Amphitheater in Colorado Springs — the sister venue to the new amphitheater in Broken Arrow — to learn key public safety and traffic control measures before beginning local shows next summer.  FOX 23
  • Tulsa launched a downtown graffiti cleanup program with a $250,000 federal grant as city workers cleared over 40 sites and added two new removal positions. The program will clean over 100 more places until at least September 2026 — a plan to boost safety and care for local buildings.  News On 6
