  • Former Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor will celebrate her 70th birthday by joining volunteers to paint a new mural along Route 66 at 2415 E. 11th Street this Saturday, September 20 from 10 a.m. until noon. The project—led by Hightail Creative Company and local artists—will highlight Tulsa’s strength and mark her long-time commitment to giving back to the community.  KTUL
  • Today, during Tulsa’s 918 day celebrations, eight women-led construction teams worked with Green Country Habitat for Humanity to raise walls on new homes while Ameristar’s 16-person team, led by Lisa Malone, assisted in the build—highlighting that 70% of new homebuyers are women.   • Tulsa residents are invited to join Laps for Little Ones: Homecoming, a fundraiser that supports education and therapy for children with disabilities, at Bishop Kelley High School track on Saturday, September 27 from 5 to 8 p.m. The event features laps, food trucks, games, and carnival fun — with proceeds aimed at raising $125,000 for tuition-free programs serving about 250 students.  KTUL

  • Tulsa celebrated 918 Day on September 18 at Chapman Green—running from 5 to 9 p.m.—with live music, food, cultural performances, and 80 vendors joining in the festive spirit.   • Eileen Collins, the first woman to pilot and command a NASA space shuttle, visited Tulsa on Thursday at the Tulsa Air and Space Museum for the Women in Aviation exhibit. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Residents in Tulsa have raised concerns about oil sheens and orange water along the Arkansas River near the HF Sinclair refinery, and the company said it is reviewing long-term cleanup plans while DEQ explained the orange tint comes from natural iron oxidation— a process linked to historical spills. The review follows public meetings where strong chemical odors were noted after rain.  FOX 23

  • Yesterday, Tulsa Community College students and faculty drew chalk flowers during a Chalk The Walk event to raise Alzheimer's awareness ahead of tomorrow's Walk To End Alzheimer's at Dream Keeper's Park—the walk begins at 7:30 a.m. with an opening ceremony at 9:00 a.m. A student said the art honored a personal loss and encouraged support for more than seven million Americans living with the disease.  FOX 23
