  • Run With Christ Tulsa launched its new chapter on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. when about 60 runners met at Collab Coffee for a devotional, stretching and a 5K run—leaders say the club builds a community of faith and fitness that welcomes all ages.  FOX 23

CRIME NEWS

  • Leslie Clingenpeel, CEO of The Spring, said that rising domestic violence in Tulsa has led to more police referrals that increased survivors’ acceptance of help from 10% to 55%—with average stays for trafficking victims growing from 17 to 49 days—pointing to a strain on local shelter services amid record domestic violence homicides.  FOX 23

  • The first ever Red Fork Equinox Festival was held on Sunday at the Art Emporium in the Red Fork District—organized by the Red Fork Arts Foundry and open to the public. Attendees enjoyed local art, music, and fine arts workshops at the free community event.  FOX 23
  • Tulsans celebrated peace and clean energy at the Tulsa Peace Festival yesterday at Bowman Twin Event Center — local residents showed support for a sustainable future.  FOX 23

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • House Bill 2459 now requires food trucks to pass safety inspections for proper gas storage. The Fire Marshall will inspect trucks today and tomorrow—vendors must comply by November 1 and can email to arrange another time if needed.  2 News
  • City leaders said Tulsa faced a housing deficit and must boost construction by 55% over the next decade to meet growing demand—rising rents, outdated codes and costly regulations slowed progress. The city permitted only 830 housing units per year when it needs 1,290 to add 4,000 units now and nearly 13,000 in ten years while investing $75 million in affordable housing programs.  KTUL
  • Oklahoma is planning a $2 million pilot program called Absolute ID to track people on parole and probation. The system will use facial or fingerprint scans on smartphones (or smartwatches) to flag check-in issues while some state officials warn of higher costs.  KTUL

  • Child Passenger Safety Week began on Sunday and runs through September 27 while the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office will offer free car seat installation checks on National Seat Check Saturday—helping parents install the correct seats for their children.  FOX 23

  • FC Tulsa clinched a playoff berth with a 1-1 draw against Oakland Roots on Saturday night when forward Taylor Calheira tied the match with his 12th season goal—keeping the team in first place with five games remaining.
