  • Phillip Eagleton, Claremore’s Sno Cone Man, is seeking help for his upcoming liver transplant on October 21 at INTEGRIS Transplant Center after closing his business to focus on his health. A benefit barbecue will be held on October 25 at Gazebo Park & local businesses and a GoFundMe campaign are also raising funds for his medical and travel costs.  FOX 23

CULTURE NEWS

  • Tulsa Performing Arts Center is inviting high school teens who love the arts to join its Youth Advisory Board — the board offers leadership chances for creative minds — and applications close September 30.  FOX 23
  • Tulsa City-County Library is marking Hispanic Heritage Month with free events through October 15—these include outdoor festivals, children's crafts, book clubs and family movie nights while showcasing its Hispanic Resource Center at Martin Regional Library.  News On 6

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Tulsa Premium Outlets has added four new brands for shoppers, and the National Weather Service issued a tornado watch valid until 10 p.m. today for Tulsa and 14 other Oklahoma counties — a flood watch remains in effect through Wednesday morning for areas at risk from heavy rain.  FOX 23

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A Tulsa pastor is leading a campaign to make June 1 Greenwood Remembrance and Reconciliation Day an official state holiday to honor victims and survivors of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre—he must gather 95,000 valid signatures so the proposal appears on the 2025 ballot.  News On 6
  • An audit found that Tulsa had a $15.2 million deficit in its general fund for fiscal year 2025 due to unexpected pay raises and other costs, and the gap may grow to $21 million. City leaders said Tulsa stayed stable by leaving some jobs unfilled and using federal grants, but they warned that tough spending decisions may be needed soon — 21 new audits were launched following community feedback.  KTUL

HEALTH NEWS

  • Safe Kids Tulsa is urging parents to use proper car seats during National Child Passenger Safety Awareness Week from September 21–27—stressing that children should remain in a rear-facing seat until age two to help protect them in a crash.  FOX 23
  • The Tulsa Health Department will spend 520 hours over 11 days checking food safety at more than 200 booths at the Tulsa State Fair to protect public health. Inspectors will conduct about 600 inspections and issue THD stickers—letting fairgoers know which vendors meet hygiene standards.  KTUL

  • Jenks High School running back Kaydin Jones decommitted from Oklahoma State on Tuesday after a coaching change and reopened his recruitment with over 30 Power Five offers—Oklahoma, Alabama, Oregon and Tennessee. He had been committed since March 26 and built his record this season with 471 rushing yards on 73 carries and 8 touchdowns.  News On 6
  • Oklahoma State fired head coach Mike Gundy after a historic loss to Tulsa on Sept. 19—marking the first loss to Tulsa since 1998 and the first home loss since 1951. The university has not yet announced its plans for the next season.  2 News
