- ➤ Mayor Nichols announced a second round of Community Conversations will take place this fall in Tulsa to allow residents to talk directly with city officials and experts about challenges such as public safety, homelessness, youth outreach and essential services. The events are scheduled (Oct. 1, Oct. 13, Oct. 21, Oct. 27, and Oct. 30) at various venues around the city from 5:30 to 7 p.m. KTUL
- ➤ The Top of the Town rooftop event returns to downtown Tulsa on Oct. 2 to raise funds for Oklahoma Veterans United plus provide exclusive skyline views and live entertainment. Proceeds will support housing, mental health care and job services for veterans in need. News On 6
- ➤ Hodari the white rhino at Tulsa Zoo is moving to another zoo — part of the AZA Species Survival Plan for southern white rhinos that works to secure a sustainable future for his species. The zoo said visitors can see him before he begins his next chapter. FOX 23

- ➤ The Tulsa State Fair starts tomorrow at Expo Square on East 21st Street and runs until October 5 while offering carnival rides, games and food, with single and unlimited ride tickets available. University of Tulsa will host a Pep Rally on Sept. 26 at 7 p.m.—free shuttles and bus routes will make it easier to get to the event. FOX 23

- ➤ Rumors suggest that State Superintendent Ryan Walters may resign this week – Gov. Stitt’s office said he has not discussed leaving his post. Walters, elected in November, faces lawsuits and disputes with school officials as his term runs until January. 2 News

- ➤ A Tulsa financial planner prepared women for the Great Wealth Transfer — as baby boomers passed away and left their estates — noting that women are expected to inherit $50 trillion over the next twenty years. FOX 23
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office introduced new security measures at the Tulsa State Fair that use a facial recognition system to locate lost children plus deploy three drones with high-resolution video and thermal imaging and a QR code system to report suspicious activity. Deputies will patrol daily while fairgoers are advised to secure valuables as guns are not allowed on fair property. KTUL
- ➤ City of Tulsa and Tulsa County officials discussed repurposing the former Juvenile Detention Center into a low-barrier shelter designed to serve 176 people with 45,000 square feet of space and dedicated security and support staff. Talks were halted on Sept. 15 but officials later agreed to meet again—hoping to address safety concerns and finalize a deal that helps people experiencing homelessness. FOX 23
- ➤ State Superintendent Ryan Walters will announce his resignation tomorrow as he plans to join the private sector—sources said. Governor Stitt will select a replacement with former state rep Mark McBride among the possible candidates. KTUL
