- ➤ The Tulsa Police Foundation presented its founder Roger Chasteen with the first ever Shield of Service Award during its inaugural fall luncheon — the honor recognizes his strong commitment to the Tulsa Police Department and community. - ➤ The Tulsa Port of Catoosa hosted 275 high school students on October 8 to show maritime career options—this event led by We Work the Waterways highlighted well-paying jobs that usually require only a high school diploma. News On 6
- ➤ On Wednesday, Tulsa Tech hosted its 'Achieving the Dream; Career Strategies for Success' event where about 120 high school students met professionals from fields such as welding, EMS, cosmetology, aviation, early childhood care, and criminal justice. Sheriff Vic Regalado noted the criminal justice program has led students to jobs at the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office Justice Center—one of several career paths showcased at the event. FOX 23
- ➤ Today, hundreds of students join the Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance for the 9th annual Space Week in Pryor, where they explore fun STEM activities for grades 4 to 12 as part of World Space Week. - ➤ The City of Tulsa has been selected for a global campaign that helps women get better access to city services and take part in government decisions. Officials say Tulsa will receive technical help + money to promote a service that boosts inclusion as it tackles issues like domestic violence and childcare access. KTUL
- ➤ Today, Tulsa Housing Authority has advanced a $190 million redevelopment project to transform Comanche Park Apartments into a mixed-use, mixed-income community called 36 North—phase one includes a 100-unit building at 3525 North Peoria Ave and offers first return rights to former residents who were current on rent. Phase two will add 70 homes, a community center and commercial space with a 40-year covenant to keep rents affordable, and completion is expected in late 2026 or early 2027. KTUL
- ➤ The Tulsa Fire Department will hold a memorial service on Sunday, October 12 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tulsa Fire Museum to honor both retired and active firefighters who died during the last fiscal year—officials will share tributes and prayers as the Honor Guard leads the dedication. FOX 23
