- ➤ Today, Tulsa Day Center is holding its Goody2Shoes drive — a shoe collection effort to mark World Homelessness Day — and asks visitors to drop off gently used tennis shoes at 415 West Archer Street. The center is especially looking for larger men's sizes 11 through 13 to help those who walk by keeping proper footwear on. FOX 23
- ➤ Catholic Charities of Eastern Oklahoma said that Pope Leo XIV’s new apostolic exhortation 'I have loved you' reaffirmed its mission to aid poor families in 31 counties. Deacon David Hamel said the 100-page document is a call to care for both material and spiritual needs—reinforcing work that has helped the community since 1951. 2 News
- ➤ Wheels and Thrills in Owasso will hold a fundraising event on Tuesday at 10637 North Garnett Road to help the family of late Tulsa firefighter Lt. - ➤ Archaeologists will begin a new excavation phase at Oaklawn Cemetery on Monday to search for Tulsa Race Massacre victims as part of the Road to Repair initiative—city officials will hold a news conference at City Hall at noon and the cemetery will remain closed for four weeks for safety and preservation. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Oklahoma and tribes clashed over hunting and fishing rights when state officials enforced license rules that tribes said violated treaty rights on reservation land. Tribal leaders from the Cherokee, Muscogee and Choctaw Nations argued that their traditional practices do not require state permits—state officials maintain that all hunters must follow the same rules. - ➤ Tulsa councilors approved a new TIF district for the Riverline project, a joint effort with the Muscogee Nation that will cover 37 acres near 81st Street and Lewis Avenue and is estimated to cost between $200M and $300M — construction is set to begin by next summer. KTUL
- ➤ The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation said all state residents, including tribal members, must have a hunting and fishing license when off tribal trust lands—marking a change from past compacts that let tribes secure licenses for their members.
