  • Tulsa costume shop Spotlite Magic and Costumes is expecting its busiest day today as Halloween parties draw heavy traffic—owner Sacheen Platten said the rush comes from the local event schedule. The shop sells costumes all year for holidays and school plays and sees trends like K-pop sparking new choices—while classic costumes such as Michael Myers remain steady.  News On 6
  • Tulsa International Airport announced that Alaska Airlines will start nonstop flights from Tulsa to Seattle and San Diego on March 18. Airport officials said the new daily routes meet high demand and help connect Tulsa to major West Coast cities — a boost that shows the city is ready for more air service.  KTUL

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A website set up to raise money for expensive God Bless The USA Bibles for Oklahoma classrooms has been taken down after the state education agency reassessed its Bible mandate. Former superintendent Ryan Walters partnered with singer Lee Greenwood to launch the campaign — and new State Superintendent Lindel Fields now says local school boards should decide when to use the Bible in class.  FOX 23
  • Union Public Schools honored its top educators by naming the 2025–26 School Site Teachers of the Year across all grade levels—teachers who inspire students and support their schools—and will select one as District Teacher of the Year on January 16 to represent the district in the state competition.  KTUL

  • A great blue heron rescued from an oil-contaminated pond is now recovering at WildCare Oklahoma — home-based rehabilitator Tiffany Lane rescued the bird — where officials are treating burns on its neck with multiple baths.  KTUL

  • Tulsa Mayor Monroe Nichols transferred Council Oak Park and Stickball Park to the Muscogee Nation after years of city ownership. The official ceremony is scheduled for Nov 1 (10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) to mark the respectful transition and celebrate the shared heritage of Tulsa and the tribe.  2 News

  • During Red Ribbon Week at Tulsa schools, students learn about drug abuse prevention while parents receive guidance on verifying their children's claims using Any Lab Test Now's 'Trust, But Verify' program—offering urine, oral, hair, and fingernail tests with same-day urine tests starting at $39 available by walk-in or appointment on weekdays and Saturdays.  FOX 23
