COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Officials continue excavation work at Oaklawn Cemetery near downtown Tulsa—experts have uncovered 42 new graves in their search for 1921 massacre victims. Three adult remains were exhumed this week and sent to the on-site lab for further analysis as work is set to run daily, excluding weekends, for the next two weeks.  KTUL
  • The Forum for Real Economic Emancipation met in Tulsa to examine how mass incarceration affects our economy and social life—speakers described high incarceration rates and discussed ways to help those released rebuild their lives.  FOX 23
  • BeHeard Movement celebrated its five-year anniversary on Saturday at Casa Roma Event Center in Tulsa and raised 12,347 dollars during the event to cover a year's rent for an employee facing homelessness — the funds were raised within 20 minutes. The organization, founded by Evan Dougoud, held its first in-person fundraiser and plans to expand its mobile services in Tulsa and OKC.  FOX 23

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Delta Dental of Oklahoma and its Foundation awarded Tulsa dental student Rena Zhang a research stipend for the 2025-2026 academic year—she is the only Tulsa recipient among four OU College of Dentistry awardees. Zhang will study the link between Peripheral Giant Cell Granuloma and dental implants while the program has supported 17 students with over $117,000 in awards.  FOX 23

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mayor Monroe Nichols and city leaders will hold the final Community Conversations meetings next week to let Tulsa residents discuss vital topics in housing, homelessness & neighborhood conditions. The Housing & Homelessness meeting is set for Monday, Oct. 27 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Herman & Kate Kaiser YMCA while the Neighborhood Conditions meeting runs on Oct. 30 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at North Tulsa Dream Center.  KTUL

HEALTH NEWS

  • Tulsa woman Mary Chantre, who battled breast cancer, a stroke and a flesh-eating disease, released her book 'When God Gives You an Assignment, Cancer Can't Stop It' after 23 years of writing—her story gives hope to others facing serious illness. She will sign copies today at Zion Gates Ministry at 2:30 p.m.—additional signings are scheduled in November at other local churches.  FOX 23

SPORTS NEWS

  • FOX23's Sports Director Spenser Tilus and certified meteorologist Mike Grogan dressed up as Toy Story characters for the 48th Annual Tulsa Run today — they joined local runners in the festive event.  FOX 23
  • Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer said his team lost 34–26 to Ole Miss on Saturday October 25th because of red-zone inefficiency and missed throws — he took responsibility for the mistakes while praising running back Xavier Robinson's two touchdowns. The Sooners will prepare to face Tennessee next week to build on the lessons learned from the defeat.  News On 6
  • Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables said the Sooners lost 34–26 to Ole Miss on October 25th because missed tackles and a costly fumble hurt their key down stops (46% vs 30%) at Gaylord Family (Oklahoma Memorial Stadium) and the team will prepare to face Tennessee next Saturday.  News On 6
