COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A Tulsa nonprofit has launched a warm clothing and coat drive for people without stable housing as temperatures drop—freeze watch will be in effect from Sunday evening through Monday morning with lows near 20 degrees.  FOX 23
  • City of Tulsa is asking Crutchfield residents to help decide how $1 million from Improve Our Tulsa funds will be spent on neighborhood projects. Two workshops will be held on November 13 and November 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rudisill Regional Library—residents can also give more feedback online from December 1 to January 31.  KTUL
  • YWCA Tulsa announced a new program today that expands its refugee housing services to support the unhoused, partnering with Mayor Nichols, Housing Solutions — HomeBase to provide case management and rental assistance. With a $1 million grant, the organization will use its 12-member team to help 120 individuals secure safe housing following the Housing First model, with its first success stories expected in 2026.  FOX 23
  • Tulsa is working with Tulsa Area United Way—Cherokee Nation and local groups to hold an emergency food drive as the federal shutdown continues and SNAP benefits are suspended. City officials say local food pantries have seen record demand and urge residents to donate nonperishable items or volunteer at drop-off sites.  KTUL
  • The Tulsa Fire Department held a smoke alarm installation event in the neighborhood where a deadly house fire took a life near South Harvard Avenue and Route 66. Five fire crews visited 358 homes, installing 32 alarms and leaving door hangers where no one answered—this effort followed the tragic incident to boost fire safety in the community.  FOX 23
  • Downtown Tulsa Partnership kicked off Downtown Days of Wonder today at the BOK Center Grand Lobby to mark the return of holiday traditions for downtown residents. The program will feature events such as ice skating at Arvest Winterfest from November 28 to January 4 and a Shop Downtown campaign from November 10 that gives shoppers a chance to win gift baskets — a plan that brings local businesses together for the holidays.  FOX 23

CULTURE NEWS

  • Words of the People will host its Inaugural Literary Gala at OSU-Tulsa’s Auditorium on November 15 at 6 p.m.—the event features Navajo poet Jake Skeets, Diné poet Kinsale Drake, Cherokee artist Agalisiga 'Chuj' Mackey, and a silent auction to support Indigenous cultural arts programs.  News On 6
  • Kelly and Tim Jackson bought Discoveryland in Sand Springs to revive the musical Oklahoma! and share its historic stage with local families — they plan to hold fundraisers and add stage lighting so local theater can begin performances in at least two years. Jackie Jackson, the venue’s Executive Director, said the family hopes to honor cherished traditions while preparing a future season.  2 News
  • A new book shares oral histories on 'The Outsiders'—detailing the classic coming-of-age book, the film shot in Tulsa, and the musical adaptation. The release gives fans fresh insights into how these works were brought to life.  FOX 23
  • Straight No Chaser will return to Tulsa to perform at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center on Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m. The nine-member group will sing holiday tunes and new songs from their album Holiday Road (tickets are still available).  News On 6

  • Broken Arrow High School is launching a groundbreaking AI course to help students prepare for the future. School officials said the course will offer hands-on learning using modern technology & interactive projects.  FOX 23

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Gilcrease Museum is planning to build 14 miles of trails on 400 acres near its facility—Turkey Mountain said City of Tulsa Parks will manage the trails, which will open for hiking, mountain biking, and nature walks in early 2027.  FOX 23

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Osage Nation announced it is expanding its temporary SNAP relief program statewide to offer a one-time $300 payment to households already enrolled in SNAP—this payment will not reduce their current benefits and applicants must use their Osage membership information with a benefit award letter to apply via the Osage Nation Service Portal.  FOX 23
  • Inola Public Schools is asking voters to approve a $59.8 million bond today to fund a new upper elementary building, air conditioning for the high school gym, and district-wide technology upgrades.  FOX 23
