- ➤ A Tulsa man said he filed a police report after his black cat, Shmitty, was taken from his porch in the White City neighborhood near 4th and Yale on November 11 around 3:30 p.m.—he said the cat helps him cope with PTSD and depression. 2 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ After the federal government reopened on Nov. 12, SNAP recipients remain unsure if they will continue to get full benefits, said Tulsa resident Helen Drinnon who depends on SNAP for food—official guidance shows eligible recipients receiving partial benefits. Officials from Oklahoma Human Services directed questions to the state branch, and residents are advised to check the state website for updates. 2 News
- ➤ The Oklahoma Department of Human Services announced that full SNAP benefits will be available for November recipients—those receiving benefits will see full funds added to their EBT accounts in 24 to 48 hours with no additional action needed. KTUL
- ➤ Tulsa city officials have launched a winter weather plan to boost road maintenance and enhance services for the homeless before cold weather hits. They have stockpiled 9,000 tons of salt and 66 snowplow trucks and will use calcium chloride on bridges and overpasses while a new 24/7 shelter for up to 250 people will open Nov 17—improving on last year’s emergency measures. 2 News
