- ➤ BattleCreek Church in Broken Arrow hosted a large food distribution event Friday to support families waiting for SNAP benefits while local need remained high. Volunteers from Convoy of Hope delivered groceries such as baby food, cereal and ready-to-eat meals — enough to serve about 500 families. News On 6
- ➤ Broken Arrow’s Rose District kicked off its Christmas season on November 13 with a tree lighting ceremony and live music that drew families for reindeer visits and free carriage rides—holiday events that will continue through December with bingo, themed attractions, and local shopping initiatives. - ➤ Tulsa's first-ever winter shelter for homeless residents will open Monday at 6 PM at Mesa Church on Admiral (7216 E. Admiral) to help people survive the dangerous cold. It will initially offer 50 to 60 beds and asks for donations of underwear, socks, deodorant, and winter clothing. 2 News
- ➤ Paula George, a Sapulpa woman who won $1 million from Lay's contest this summer, is using her prize money to fund Thanksgiving meals for over 20 families and open a home for disabled men—her Million Miracle House. - ➤ At Cain’s Ballroom, local celebrities including former mayor Kathy Taylor, realtor Holly Standlee and journalist Erin Christy danced with professional partners to raise funds for San Miguel Middle School— a nonprofit that helps underserved youth. - ➤ The Oklahoma Museum of Popular Culture hit its $18 million goal — unlocking matching state funds to finish exhibits and start building the museum. Design work starts in 2026, construction begins in 2027 and the museum will open in spring 2028. FOX 23

- ➤ 86-year-old Karen Lofton in Broken Arrow said she receives about 10 unwanted telemarketing calls a day that ask about her Medicare and question her age (a problem many older adults face), and state officials urge residents to report these calls via Consumer Protection services. Attorney General Gentner Drummond led Operation Robocall Roundup in August, noting that over 26,000 Do-Not-Call complaints were filed by Oklahomans. KTUL
- ➤ After the federal shutdown ended late Wednesday, Oklahoma SNAP recipients will see the remaining November benefits added to their EBT cards within 24 to 48 hours—state teams had completed system updates before the shutdown ended.
