COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Tulsa Botanic Garden kicked off its holiday season with the annual Garden of Lights event—running from 5 to 9 p.m. on select nights until December 28th—while visitors can walk among colorful lights, make s'mores at fire pits, enjoy holiday jazz on Sundays, and meet Mr. and Mrs. Claus.  FOX 23
  • Arvest Winterfest kicked off last night in downtown Tulsa with the lighting of the Christmas tree in front of the BOK Center. The festival *offers ice skating, Santa photos, igloo rentals and charity drives through Food Drive Monday and Warmth Wednesday promotions until January 4*.  FOX 23
  • The Tulsa community gathered for a Celebration of Life at Greenwood Cultural Center on Saturday evening to honor Mother Viola Ford Fletcher — a 111-year-old survivor of the Tulsa Race Massacre who passed away earlier this week. Ike Howard and Mayor Monroe Nichols shared memories of her strength and kindness that continue to inspire the city.  FOX 23

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The local donut shop, The Donut Hole, reopened this morning and will operate on limited days from Friday through Sunday — it closed previously because running the business alone was too hard. The shop announced its return in a social media post.  FOX 23
  • Last Small Business Saturday, two downtown Jenks boutiques provided holiday shoppers with unique gifts and job training for people with disabilities. A wind advisory warned that south winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph affected parts of our region until 3 p.m.—cautioning drivers to secure loose objects.  FOX 23

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Philbrook Festival kicked off last night in midtown Tulsa with thousands of lights and family-friendly activities, including a musical light show, make-and-take art workshops and live music (featuring Tulsa Opera). The event will run through January 3 and will offer holiday movies like Home Alone, Frozen and Elf later in the season.  FOX 23

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Catoosa Public Schools announced the tragic passing of Wells Middle School student Jaydyn Woodruff and extended condolences from both the school and the football program. The school will start classes late on December 1 at 9:30 a.m.—extra counselors are being added to support students’ mental health.  News On 6

SPORTS NEWS

  • Rejoice Christian School's Eagles are keeping practice fun with themed days during their bye week as they prepare for the Class A-I semifinal game against Pawhuska. The game will be held on December 5 at 7 p.m. at Oologah High School—coaches say the playful approach helps the team stay focused and ready to compete.  News On 6
  • 13-year-old boxing champion Catalina Cordova, who has earned titles at the Junior Olympics and Golden Gloves, is training for Regionals in Little Rock after her Nationals fight was canceled—she faces challenges as a girl in the sport while receiving strong support from her father Thomas and trainer Hector Rivas, who started a GoFundMe for her trip.  2 News
  • Sand Springs beat Putnam City 28-27 to move on to the state title game—Sandites will face Choctaw in the 6A-II championship.  News On 6
  • Friday afternoon, the Bixby Spartans defeated Broken Arrow 49 to 17 as Jack Gill scored three touchdowns and Carson Kirby threw for 164 yards. The win advanced Bixby to its 11th straight state title game — they will face the winner of the Jenks and Owasso game next Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in Edmond.  News On 6
  • The Owasso Rams beat the Jenks Trojans 39—36 on Friday with a late field goal that ended a strong comeback by Jenks. The win sends the Rams into the 6A—1 state championship game in Edmond where they will face Bixby.  News On 6
