COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Today, Revitalize T-Town is completing free repairs at Ms. Colbert’s home in Tulsa by replacing the roof, installing new doors, sealing air leaks, and building low-rise steps and handrails—boosting safety for her home as she works night shifts to care for her father and granddaughters. The program will help 120 homeowners this year and welcomes other Tulsa residents to apply for similar repairs.  KTUL
  • After winter weather moved into Green Country on Monday and temperatures dropped Tuesday, the BeHeard Movement said its 24/7 shelter saw a surge of people seeking a warm place to stay. Founder Evan Dougoud said the shelter, capped at 50 people, already had long waitlists—forcing some to be turned away.  FOX 23
  • Today, the Tulsa Glassblowing School opened its annual winter holiday sale featuring handmade ornaments, trees, and snowmen that fund youth and veteran programs. The sale runs until Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 7440 E 7th Street (local artists spent months preparing the items).  News On 6
  • The Villages at Southern Hills in Tulsa asked community members to drop off one holiday card every day in December, and more than 560 cards have been collected in the first two days. Director Amy Upton said the effort brightens residents’ days and noted that schools, Boy Scout troops, preschools, and local families have helped (near 57th and Lewis).  News On 6
  • Two Tulsa nonprofits said community support was vital—Giving Tuesday kicked off yesterday as they faced rising financial and social needs among local families. They plan to expand outreach and fundraising to help those in need.  FOX 23
  • Broken Arrow’s small animal rescue has moved to a new clubhouse on Main Street thanks to a donor who saved two dogs from euthanasia, and the new space will house five to 10 animals when it opens. The rescue will continue to run its Thrift & Paw store at 81st and Elm for adoptable cats like Captain Kirk—supporting its growing foster program.  FOX 23
  • Tulsa's Domestic Violence Intervention Services is asking for donations to help families in need this holiday season — the organization is focusing on its Joygivers program by collecting new and gently-used clothing, toys, hygiene products and winter gear. The nonprofit also offers a 24-hour crisis line and will accept donations for Joygivers gifts until Dec. 9.  2 News
  • The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program in Tulsa needs more age-appropriate gifts for 8- to 12-year-olds as only about half of the 5,000 children have been served—volunteers are collecting donations at the Area Command on S Hudson and at Woodland Hills Mall, and all gifts are due by December 10.  2 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • A downtown Tulsa gallery at Masterwork Studios is hosting an art opening on December 5 from 5 to 8 p.m.—featuring local artists and a debut photography book—and will host a Christmas Market on December 7 from 1 to 5 p.m. where local vendors offer handmade gifts, hot cocoa, and live caroling to celebrate the season and support local charities.  News On 6
  • Actor Tim Blake Nelson will appear at Congregation B'nai Emunah in Tulsa on December 11 at 7 p.m. to celebrate the release of his new book Superhero & the event offers tickets that include admission and a copy of the book.  FOX 23

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Two Tulsa County schools—Booker T. Washington High School and Darnaby Elementary—received an A on the OSDE 2025 report card, while most schools earned lower grades and few students met key proficiency targets in English, math, and science.  2 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs announced $52.5 million in grants for 80 groups to offer suicide prevention services for veterans and families—three Oklahoma organizations received grants with Cherokee Nation and Community Service Council of Greater Tulsa, Inc. each getting $750,000 and Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma getting $452,360.  FOX 23
  • Starting in February, the TSA will charge a $45 fee for travelers who do not have acceptable identification at Tulsa International Airport. Passengers can still fly using the TSA Confirm.ID for a 10-day travel period and are urged to schedule a DMV appointment to get a Real ID.  FOX 23

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma announced it will receive a three-year, $9.4 million grant from the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust to launch Feed Oklahoma, a program that delivers chef-created frozen meals to schools statewide. The initiative builds on a successful Tulsa model and will add 60 new schools in its first year—reaching all 77 counties by December 2028.  KTUL
