COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A meeting at Jenks Coffee Co. sparked community support as Jacqueline Quinnett donated $8 today—helping homeless artist Simone McGhee secure a hotel stay through Dec. 12 while neighbors work to find her affordable housing and job leads.  2 News
  • Local groups including NYU Tulsa and advocate Isabel Coronado are raising $40,000 through the Tulsa Community Foundation to renovate the courtyard at the David L. Moss jail for child-friendly visitations with incarcerated parents — adding better furniture, play areas, and landscaping — to create a more welcoming space.  2 News
  • Today, Seaboard Foods partnered with the Oklahoma Pork Council and donated 40,000 pounds of ground pork + sausage to the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma as part of the Give a Ham campaign.  FOX 23
  • Lilyfield announced a 350-toy donation from Williams Plumbing & Drain for families at its annual Christmas party on Dec. 10. The organization said the toys will help local families celebrate the season.  FOX 23
  • Ward-Wiseman Animal Haven secured two acres in Talala (about eight miles north and east of Collinsville) for a new no-kill shelter featuring 18 kennels and expanded cat space. The group will break ground last week of January with construction set to take six to nine months.  FOX 23
  • Rural homelessness is rising in Oklahoma as more families live in temporary conditions with numbers likely higher than reported — in Okmulgee, Mayor Mickey Baldwin formed a task force and will launch a new Bridges Out of Poverty program on Jan. 8.  KTUL

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 10-year-old boy is home recovering after a 20-foot fall from a deer stand in the Redbird area on Nov. 22, 2025 (he wore a safety harness), with quick help from first responders and community groups including Coweta Walmart.  KTUL

CULTURE NEWS

  • 46 Action Entertainment, a Tulsa stunt team formed in December 2024, creates safe, dynamic fight scenes for local films. The team is in post-production on Bad Day and preparing for pre-production on Deadbolt (their next project), using martial arts and precise choreography to enhance visual storytelling.  News On 6
  • Tulsa Zoo is now offering limited-edition holiday ornaments featuring real prints from each of its seven new Aldabra tortoise hatchlings, priced at $25. Proceeds support daily zoo operations and ornaments are available on the zoo’s website.  News On 6
  • Winterfest returns to downtown Tulsa with outdoor skating, an ice slide, and donation-themed days offering half-price admission for warm items and food drives, while student nights debut every Friday through Jan. 4. Breakfast with Santa will be hosted this Saturday (at the BOK Center lobby) for a fun family morning.  News On 6

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Reading Partners Tulsa is seeking 250 volunteers to tutor 720 Union Public Schools students during the school year. The nonprofit invites community members to commit one hour weekly to help local students improve their reading skills in Tulsa.  KTUL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • OKDHS announced that childcare subsidy grants for children six and up will end after renewal dates, leaving families scrambling for care and centers in Mid-West City fearing financial loss as the agency seeks more funding next fiscal year.  KTUL

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Oklahoma Poison Center warned Tulsa families to secure button batteries and other holiday hazards since ingestion can cause severe burns and other serious symptoms (immediate medical care is needed if signs like drooling or chest discomfort occur).  KTUL
