  • Drivers can expect slower traffic today near Pine Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard as utility crews replace a valve by closing lanes and opening fire hydrants that cause water to create slick spots during the morning commute.  News On 6
  • The 1256 Movement received a $50,000 donation from Transformation Church to repair homes damaged in the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, and it is reviewing over 250 applications as it works to help 1,256 families achieve home ownership by 2030.  KTUL
  • Tulsa Animal Services launched an online Lost Pet Map for residents to view real-time pet intakes and reported lost animals from the past 90 days (the free tool helps owners quickly reunite missing pets with families).  News On 6
  • Deputies in Tulsa County caught runaway kangaroo Martha Monday near 171st Street South and Lewis — the owner helped capture her and Martha is now safe heading home.  FOX 23
  • Tulsa Dream Center is accepting donated toys for its annual Christmas Mall, where families can shop for free, new gifts for children with no income requirements. Unopened toys can be dropped off at one of 50 locations until Wednesday + parents can register for as many kids as needed.  FOX 23

  • Composer Dustin Edward Howard returns for his annual live rescoring of the century-old silent film Häxan at Circle Cinema on Dec. 20 (8 p.m.). The Winter Solstice event features real-time music performed with drum machines, guitar, synthesizers and a nearly 100-year-old pipe organ.  News On 6

  • Utility companies say expanding power plants will help meet new data center demand once approved by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission + recent load forecasts guide these plans while local residents worry about rising electricity rates.  2 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Union High School started an Educational Leadership class that gives seniors hands-on teaching experience to help meet the state's teacher shortage. The class meets on Mondays and Fridays at school + on Tuesday through Thursday at eight district sites, and it partners with Northeastern State University for college credit.  2 News
  • The Oneta Ridge Middle School secretary turned over 30 students’ drawings into crocheted hats (made with her own funds and time) for a unique wearable art project. The hats now brighten classrooms and hallways, delighting students and teachers alike.  News On 6

  • Ventura Foods, LLC recalled thousands of gallons of salad dressings sold in Oklahoma after the FDA found black plastic (which may cause temporary health issues) in the products, and customers are urged to return or discard them for a refund.  KTUL
  • Twins Camden 'Cub' and Cole White return to Ascension Saint John Neonatal Intensive Care Unit today to thank nurses (who saved their lives after a nine-week premature birth); their visit aims to encourage families facing NICU challenges.  FOX 23
